Introducing the charity: The ABIO Foundation

Saturday 26 September marks the return of the ABIO volunteers to celebrate the fifth National “For Love, For ABIO” Day.
Throughout the day in participating town centres you will be able to meet the 4,500 ABIO volunteers, who all through the year offer comfort and support to hospitalised children, teens and their parents.
The National Day has been a success ever since its launch, in bringing people closer to ABIO and in raising the public’s awareness about the effort to humanise hospitals. ABIO volunteers are normal, everyday people and at the same time very special individuals who find the time in their busy lives to visit hospitals in a bid to make them more child friendly. In particular, since last year’s event, they have presented The Children and Adolescents in Hospitals Charter, a document written and promoted by ABIO since 2008.
In around 100 Italian city centres, the volunteers will be distributing baskets of pears for a minimal offer of just seven euro. The ABIO offices around the country will then use the money earned to pay for training courses for new volunteers and will thus be able to guarantee a consistent, qualified presence for all children in hospital, which is the main goal of the voluntary organisation. Thanks to the success of previous “For Love, For ABIO” Days, the ABIO centres have been able to make great headway towards this target: this year too, the ABIO volunteers are asking for everybody’s help in bringing the smile of a volunteer to every child in hospital.
The ABIO Foundation Italy site, www.abio.org provides up-to-date information about the participating town centres and all the necessary information about the National Day.

The dedication of Coca-Cola HBC Italy
Always attentive to evolving social situations, Coca-Cola HBC Italy has strengthened its relationships with various charities, the majority of which it had already previously developed partnerships with. This dedication has seen many charitable actions and projects take place with many different organisations, as in this case with the ABIO Foundation; the Italian Association for Children in Hospital, a charity founded in Milan in 1978 in order to promote the humanisation of hospitals.
