Aseptic
A technology used for packaging preservative-free products, especially fresh juice and tea, under sterile conditions.
Bottlers
Business entities that sell, manufacture, and distribute beverages of The Coca-Cola Company under a franchise agreement.
Bottling plant
A beverage production facility, including associated warehouses, workshops, and other on-site buildings and installations.
Carbonated soft drinks; CSDs
Non-alcoholic carbonated beverages containing flavourings and sweeteners, excluding, among others, waters and flavoured waters, juices and juice drinks, sports and energy drinks, teas and coffee.

Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC)
Chemical compound used in cooling equipment, which damages the earth’s ozone layer and contributes to global warming.
Coca-Cola Hellenic
Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company S.A. and, as the context may require, its subsidiaries and joint ventures. Also, ‘the Company’ or ‘the Group’.
Coca-Cola System
The Coca-Cola Company and its bottling partners.
Combined Heat and Power (CHP) unit
Also called tri-generation units, these can produce power, heat, cooling and CO2 in a combined process that is up to 40% more efficient than separate processes.
Concentrate
Base of a beverage, to which water and other ingredients are added to produce beverages. It may contain concentrated plant extracts, fruit juices, colourings and other components.
Consumer
Person who drinks Coca-Cola Hellenic products.
Corporate social responsibility – CSR
CSR is “a concept whereby companies integrate social and environmental concerns in their business operations and in their interaction with their stakeholders on a voluntary basis. Being socially responsible means not only fulfilling legal expectations, but also going beyond compliance and investing more into human capital, the environment and relations with stakeholders” (from the EC Green Book).
Customer
Retail outlet, restaurant or other operation that sells or serves Coca-Cola Hellenic products directly to consumers.
Global Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Register
This forum enables organisations to disclose, monitor and compare their greenhouse gas emissions.
GDA
Abbreviation of Guideline Daily Amounts.

This is the list of the best places to work as compiled by the research and management-consultancy organisation: the Great Place to Work Institute, which was founded in 1991. The Institute is headquartered in the United States and has affiliated members all around the globe including leading financial publications such as the Financial Times and Il Sole 24 Ore. Non-alcoholic beverages without carbonation including, but not limited to, waters and flavoured waters, juices and juice drinks, sports and energy drinks, teas and coffee.

OHSAS 18001 is an international standard regarding the voluntary application of a system to adequately guarantee workers’ health and safety, including precautionary measures which go beyond those required by applicable law.
Plant
Also referred to as bottling plant, this refers to a bottling facility of Coca-Cola Hellenic, where beverages are manufactured.
PET; Polyethylene Teraphthalate
A form of polyester used to make lightweight, shatter-resistant bottles for beverages, food and non-food. PET can be recycled into new containers, clothing, carpeting, automotive parts and industrial materials.
Ready-to-drink; RTD
Drinks that are pre-mixed and packaged, ready to be consumed immediately with no further preparation.
Stakeholders
Groups or individuals who influence the work carried out by an organisation or are affected by it.
TCCC
The Coca-Cola Company and, as the context may require, its subsidiaries.
UNESDA
Union of European Beverages Association, a founding member of the EU Platform for Action on Diet, Physical activity and Health.
Unit case
Approximately 5.678 litres or 24 servings of 8 U.S. ounces, the size of the original Coca-Cola bottle.
Units of measurement
Joule: a unit of measurement expressing the energy necessary (or the effort expended) to exercise the force of one Newton over a distance of one metre.
MJ/lpb: megajoules/litres of beverage produced. A megajoule is a unit of measurement equivalent to 1,000,000 joules (106 J).
GJ/lpb: gigajoules/litres of beverage produced. A gigajoule is a unit of measurement equivalent to 1,000,000,000 joules (109 J).
m3/lbp: metres cubed/litres of beverage produced.
Kcal: unit of measurement (equivalent to one thousand calories) used to indicate the energy content of a given food. One Kcal is equivalent to 4,184 joules.
Vending business
A business that uses vending machines to sell products. Vending machines are automatic devices that sell goods such as beverages and snacks without a cashier.
